French designer Virginia Vard stood on Karl Lagerfeld’s side for many years. It is therefore no surprise that it’s exactly her who will continue giving direction to Chanel. The whole world was holding its breath in expectation of what luxury models she would come up with and whether she would be able to get anywhere close to the fashion genius. And with her Cruise 2019/2020 debut, she blew everyone’s mind and confirmed her undeniable talent.

Next stop Grand Palais
As per tradition, the Grand Palais in Paris was the final destination of the brand Chanel. Following in the footsteps of Karl Lagerfeld, who always chose a breathtaking and authentic environment for his show, the new creative director decided to turn the Grand Palais into a train station.
Tweed & denim - and the other side of Chanel
As expected, Virginia Viard included traditional tweed suits in the Cruise 2019/2020 collection. However, she newly transformed the iconic tweed into denim and in addition to suits, she introduced trench coats and stylish monogram handbags.
In addition to these pieces, tops with huge bows, luxurious midi dresses or stylish leather pieces appeared on the catwalk. You wouldn’t be able to guess that any of this was created by the elegant Chanel! Our favorite is the unconventional indigo leather overall with a black belt, which is simply flawless.
Famous visitors of the show: Claudia Schiffer and Vanessa Paradis with her daughter
The luxury fashion show attracted not only the public, but also a number of famous faces. Claudia Schiffer and Vanessa Paradis with her daughter Lily-Rose Melody Depp are just a few of the stars who didn't want to miss Virginia Viard's debut.
A new kind of CHANEL under Virginia Viard’s leadership? Don’t let yourselves be fooled!
This really isn't a 180 degree turn. Personally, I thought Virginia would finally stir the stale waters after multiple decades. But the reality is that it looks as though she has pulled the last sketches of the recently deceased Karl out of the drawer...
A huge bow as a "cute top", tweed jackets with giant pockets and maxi beads with the CHANEL logo? But we’ve seen that so many times already... It bores me to no end. On the other hand, the white trousers with a slit right in the front up to the middle of the knees, that’s what I call a refreshing innovation!
Next thing on the list is a luxurious black-and-white tweed dress with wide shoulders and a mini belt bag. That thing is pretty awesome! Finally a way to go out and socialize with your hands empty. Do you also feel incredible relief just imagining it?
